Pledge of Allegiance
Here's another myth that I keep hearing from our hired help (you know, the Congress & Senate) and from people who think they know history. The Pledge of Allegiance is argued, often hotly, that the phrase, "under God" should never be removed. Merely suggesting so may mean to some that YOU are an atheist and/or an anti-American!

Actually, the phrase, "under God" was not written by the author, Minister Francis Bellamy, who penned the Pledge in 1892. He was a devout Christian and a patriotic American. The phrase, "under God" was inserted by our hired help over 60 years later on June 14th, 1954. So, here it is in it's ORIGINAL:

I Pledge allegiance to my Flag, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.
